5 Pinterest Tips Every Blogger Should Know. As a blogger, I am sure you have heard of Pinterest. It is not just another social media site instead it is more of a search engine.

Most successful bloggers speak the world about Pinterest. They say it’s their number one traffic source. Some get about 80k – 100k monthly views just from Pinterest itself. I can’t deny that fact. Pinterest has been my blog’s main source of traffic contributor too. It happened after I tried this 5 Pinterest Tips.

5 Basic Pinterest Tips Every Blogger Should Know

I am sure many bloggers are exploding their blog traffic with these Pinterest tips. If you are not one of them, then it’s time you change your strategy and watch your traffic grow.

1. Claim Your Website

The first thing to do is to claim your website on Pinterest. You will need to use the Pinterest verification tool to claim and confirm your site’s address.

To get started you will need a Pinterest Business Account. It’s very easy to switch from a personal account to a business account. After you have done it, just follow the steps below to claim your website.

  • Log in to your Pinterest account from a web browser. Click to open the menu and go to Edit Settings.
  • Click on Claim at the left side of your screen.
  • Then enter your website URL at the Claim Website section.
  • Make sure it is the correct URL then click Claim.
  • Select “Add HTML Tag”
  • Copy the code and paste it on your website.
  • Finally, go back to Pinterest and click submit.

By claiming your website, it shows to Pinterest that you own the site that you are frequently linking to. In return, Pinterest will provide you with details on how well your pins from your claimed site are performing.

The next to your site’s URL on your Pinterest profile shows that your website has been claimed.

2. Enable Rich Pins

What are Rich Pins? Well according to Pinterest, Rich Pins are a type of organic pin format. It provides extra information about the Pin while in the closeup view. What I like about rich pin is that it auto-updates information such as pricing whenever you update the description page that is linked to that particular pin.

It is actually very simple to enable rich pin after you have claimed your website. It makes it so much easier if you have a Yoast SEO plugin. After you have enable Rich Pins, you just have to go to the Rich Pins Validator and paste a URL from one of your pages and verify.

If you need a more detailed explanation on how to claim your website, enable rich pins and grow blog traffic, this PINTEREST GROWTH course will be all you need.

3. Find The Right People And Boards To Follow

You will often hear successful bloggers saying that the number of followers doesn’t matter on Pinterest. You can have a small number of followers and yet have a high impression on each pin.

So if followers are not important, then why am I mentioning about followers? Well, let me share a little secret with you.

I love Pinterest so much that I have spent many hours a day on Pinterest. One thing among others that I have noticed is a good way to gain followers is to start following others first.

Well that’s the same strategy for all social media sites right? But as I mentioned earlier, Pinterest is not just an ordinary social media site. So there are benefits if you follow the right people and boards.

Now let’s say your brand is about blogging and working from home. If you choose to follow others that are sharing about the same topic, there is a possibility that they will follow you back because you both share something in common.

They would be the ones that will be interested in the topics you are sharing and there is a high chance that they will repin your pins and it will be view by their followers that are also interested in the same topic.

That’s usually how a pin goes viral and it explodes your blog traffic. But bear in mind that it might not happen overnight because Pinterest is all about consistency and dedication.

Basic Pinterest Strategy For Bloggers

4. Check Your Analytics For Valuable Information

My main strategy to explode my blog traffic is to create fresh pins for my popular blog posts. And one way to do this is to check my Pinterest analytics.

Every week I will create at least 5 fresh pins. Some weeks I even create up to 10 or 15 pins. Before creating fresh pins, I will do an internal audit of my Pinterest analytics. I will take note of all my pins that are doing well. I will then tweak the title and design and create a fresh new pin.

5. Find A Strategy That Suits You

You may have come across dozens of Pinterest tips and strategies and yes it can be overwhelming. Sometimes you just don’t know which one to follow or which one will work best for you. The only solution to all this is to try everything you have learnt and ditch whichever Pinterest tip or strategy that is not working for you.

This is another thing that I have learned along the way. Not every Pinterest strategy works for everyone. So you need to find the strategy that will work for you. Once you find a working strategy, I can assure you its a game changer,

Here are a few strategies for you to try:

a. The Number Of Pins To Pin In A Day

You may come across some successful bloggers telling you to pin 100 pins a day or you may have taken some Pinterest courses telling you to pin only 20 a day.

Which is the truth?

Well, actually both are the truth. The number of pins you pin a day is actually not the main issue. You can pin a minimum of 20 a day or a maximum of 100 a day, there is no right from wrong. The main thing here is you MUST be consistent. If your strategy is to pin 100 pins a day then you got to do it every single day.

To be honest, it is quite impossible to consistently pin 100 pins a day if you are manual pinning. Even manual pinning 20 pins each day can be troublesome because you have other tasks to see to. You can’t pin all at one go because Pinterest will detect that you are spamming.

So what SOLUTIONS are there?

The answer to consistent daily pinning is definitely TAILWIND. You can be enjoying a good night sleep or get caught up in a good book, and Tailwind will do all the pinning for you. Tailwind also offers a FREE TRIAL for the first 100 pins.

If you are planning to EXPLODE your traffic without doing any hardwork then Tailwind is your answer. For less than $10 a month, Tailwind will do all the pinning for you.

b. Pin Designs

I love using CANVA to create all my pins. I prefer using the Canva app compared to the web version. One, because it is practical for me to edit new pins while on the go. The other reason because I find that the app version is more straightforward and easier to use.

As for stock photos, I either get them from CREATIVE MARKET or IVORY MIX. You can find some lovely FREE stock photos there too. I also use some stock photos from the Canva site itself and from Pexels.

I have noticed simple pin designs with easy to read typography always performs better. As for colour palettes, I try to stick to not more than 3 or 4 colours. And I limit to 2 font choices for each pin.

Some say that it is actually best to create a ‘brand’ when designing pins. Try to use the same combination of fonts and colour palettes when creating new pins. This helps others to recognise your brand each time they catch sight of your pin.

However, I have found that experimenting with different fonts, colour palettes and pin designs can be very much rewarding too.
