Morning Routine For A Productive Day. What time you should wake up always depends on what time you went to bed last night? If you are planning to start a morning routine, then you got to make sure you get enough of sleep.

It’s always advisable to have 8 hours of sleep. However, it doesn’t matter if you are getting one or two hours lesser than 8, as long as you don’t feel sleepy and tired in the morning. Are you prepared to start your morning routine?

What Is The Best Morning Routine

I don’t know about you, but to be honest I wasn’t a morning person before. I dreaded waking up so early. Unfortunately the later I woke up, the less time I had to complete my tasks on the ‘To-Do List’. There were days when I had to force my eyes to stay open in the wee hours of the morning just to complete my work.

When I started feeling lethargic and was losing focus that’s when I realised that I had to change my daily routine. I trained myself to go to bed earlier in order to wake up early. My routine starts at 6 am now and I can proudly say that I am much more productive and energized compared to how I was before.

How Do I Start My Day?

Below are the 7 habits that I practise every morning in no particular order. I work from home, so there is no rush for anything except that my cats are usually waiting to be fed. That’s one thing that needs rushing every morning.

A Glass Of Water & Stretching

After I wake up each morning, the first thing I usually do is brush my teeth and drink a glass of warm water. This is then followed by some light stretching to wake my body up. By this time my 9 cats would already be bothering me to fill their bowls with food.

Shower

Malaysia is a very hot and humid country, so enjoying a morning shower is a must for me. It helps me feel fresh and motivated to start my day. I love the fragrance of shower foam to help me feel energized and ready to take on the world.

Devotion Or Meditate

When I am all nice and clean, I would spend about 5 to 10 minutes to pray and give thanks. I am not a highly religious person, but I feel calmer when I get to spend some quiet time with God. To give thanks, to make requests and also to moan at times.

Breakfast

People always say “Eat Breakfast Like A King” so you would feel energized the whole day. As a Malaysian, I am spoiled with a wide variety of popular food for breakfast. There are hawker stalls everywhere selling yummy food. But being health conscious, I do tend to watch what I eat and prefer home-cooked meals. However, it is never easy to say no to a delicious plate of Nasi Lemak or Roti Canai.

Journaling And Planning

Again I would spend another 5 or 10 quiet minutes to fill in my journal pages and plan my day ahead. I usually prepare my to-do list before I go to bed, so in the morning I just go through all the tasks and see what should be done first.

Enjoy The Outdoor

What I look forward to every morning is to walk out into the garden and get some fresh air before I take on any task. Listening to the birds chirping and looking at all the flowers blooming always has a positive effect on my day.

Time For My Mobile

I spend more time on my mobile compared to my laptop. My first task is to check my blog and social media. This is usually the time when I reply to comments or give feedback to any social media statuses that catch my attention. I also spend some time pinning on Pinterest.

When all these are done, only then would I start taking on one task after the other. I usually complete all my task by 4 pm (without skipping lunch). So usually I have many extra hours to spend doing other things which include spending time with loved ones (my cats included), doing some paper crafting projects, creating new pins (I am starting to get addicted to Pinterest) and many other activities that I enjoy.
