Toilet paper rolls are perfect to upcycle into some gorgeous decor ideas. Today I made a vase using just one toilet paper roll and some colorful paper straws. This easy paper craft idea is suitable for the kids too.

Lately due to the Covid 19 pandemic, toilet rolls seems to have stolen a bit of the ‘limelight’. The panic buying of toilet rolls by many had caused a run out of supplies in most stores.

Many countries are having a lockdown due the outbreak. In Malaysia we are having a movement control order that will hopefully end on the 31st of March.

Easy DIY Toilet Paper Roll Vase Tutorial

Taking my mind away from the Covid 19 and the recent politic events, I decided to craft. I needed something to calm my anxiety levels and paper crafting has always been excellent for mental health.

How To Make A Vase With Toilet Paper Roll

Below is a step by step guide to make a gorgeous toilet paper roll vase. For this project, I had some colorful paper straws, so I decided to used them. However you can also use plastic straws, ice cream sticks or even cotton buds to replace the paper straws.

This toilet paper roll vase makes a lovely handmade decor idea using upcycle materials. It can also be made into a pencil holder to store your color pencils or even crayons.

Here is the list of what you’ll need.

items needed to make this paper roll vase

Step By Step Guide To Make The Vase

First measure and cut the straws according to your desired length. To make this vase, I decided to cut the first straw at half a centimeter longer than the toilet paper roll. The second straw I cut one centimeter longer than the first straw. This is followed by the 3rd and fourth straw with each a centimeter longer than the other. This process is repeated until you have cut out all the straws that you need.

glue cardstock below toilet paper roll

Next take the circle piece of cardstock and glue it to the bottom of your toilet paper roll. Remember to measure and cut the cardstock about half a centimeter broader in diameter.

glue paper straw to vase

Now glue the straws one by one. You can mix and match with colors or with sizes. Be as creative as you can.

Your vase is finally completed. You can add a ribbon to it to make it look more attractive. Then add some flowers in the vase and place it on your work table or add pencils and place it on the kid’s study table
